STEP BY STEP

How our pediatric blood draw works

01

Book and send the order

Choose a time online and email your pediatrician's lab order. We review it before we arrive.

02

We talk first

We say hello, show your child the supplies and answer their questions in words they understand.

03

The draw, at their pace

A small butterfly needle, a parent close by and breaks whenever they're needed.

04

Done, and off to the lab

We label and deliver the sample to Quest, Labcorp or your specialty lab. Results go to your pediatrician.

How to prepare your child for a blood draw

  • Give plenty of water the day before and the morning of, unless the lab order says to fast.

  • Keep them warm. Warm hands and arms make veins easier to find.

  • Tell the truth, kindly: "a quick pinch, then it's done." Avoid "it won't hurt."

  • Have a comfort item ready: a toy, a show or a favorite snack for afterwards.

  • Ask your pediatrician whether numbing cream is a good option for your child.

SIMPLE FROM START TO FINISH
